At this point, please inform yourself about possible limitations.

  1. Public databases: Ipilion offers the possibility to load patent data from public databases  and manage them. This does not invlove automatically the right to use these databases. The supported public databases can always change their job, restrict or completely stop. This is outside the responsibility of ethorin. In this case, working with Ipilion restricted. Also, the interface to access the relevant databases might change. To maintain function, ethorin will try to fix those problems with updates. You must be entitled to receive updates (Purchasing Ipilion includes the update service for 1 year).  Also, the operators define terms and conditions of usuage. Please check with the respective operators or here.
  2. Internet: Ipilion uses  the Internet for the following functions:
    • Database access
    • Support View
    • Updates
    • Interner Browser
This requires the user to provide an Internet connection. Should the Internet go through a proxy, this can be managed within the configuration. Due to the diversity of network structures, the function can not generally be guaranteed. Filters and firewalls may affect the function. Please check the function with the validation version before purchasing. The user should also be informed that the use of Ipilion in combination with the use of the internet generates costs.
  3. No liability for the accuracy of the data and information: Ipilion provides easy access to patent literature from public databases. These are taken from unsecured interfaces (Internet), locally stored without doing any validation. Changes and errors in the provision of data (http) by database vendors, as well as faulty scans, may lead to incorrect information within Ipilion. Ipilion is suitable as a service for those collecting first experience with patents as well as for experienced users to gain entry into a new search, before professional search services (eg patent offices) are used. Thus, for example, a fruitless search in Ipilion shall not lead to the conclusion that there is unlimited room for maneuver. Business or financial decisions should not be based on searches with Ipilion.
